The 2500EP and the Higher impedance version (2500EN) constitute Valhallas most popular current calibrator. The ranges of the 2500EP and 2500EN are compatible with virtually all analog meters and most of the digital multimeters with AC-DC current capability. For benchtop DMMs and the handheld meters, virtually all with 10 amp measurement, the 10 amp range of the 2500EP is ideal. Ammeters, current transformers, shunts, current sensors, coils,wattmeters and a variety of parametric tests requiring constant, yet variable, AC or DC current are but a few of calibration and lab test uses of the 2500EP. The units fast response characteristics allow it to precisely track the input reference voltage in terms of amplitude, phase, frequency, and waveshape. Each range also features zero to 200% dynamic response capability (up to maximum output).

Compliance voltage to a current calibrator is what drive current is to a voltage source. It is the ability to tolerate high series resistance (up to 10 V drop) and still deliver stable, constant current. The 2500 series current calibrators all feature good drive compliance capability to deliver constant current long after competitive units drop out. A built in compliance indicator informs the user of compliance status at all times.

For automated use, the 2500EP has remote ranging. The remote range is selected by applying plus five volts to the proper rear panel connector pin. For GPIB, this signal is available from the Valhalla 2701C DC Voltage Standard. The 2500EP has front panel L.E.D. remote range indicators and a rotary knob for manually setting the desired range.
