Powerful yet easy to use

Valhalla Scientific is offering the latest in high-technology product safety testing to meet UL, CSA and other safety requirements. AC-DC current leakage, low resistance, Dielectric Analysis testing is now available in one completely auto-mated instrument. After twenty-five years of manufacturing high quality test instruments, Digital Power Analyzers, Low Resistance Digital Micro-Ohmmeters, and Precision Calibration equipment, Valhalla is pleased to introduce it's 5880A Automatic Hipot Tester which evaluates insulation breakdown and earth continuity in one single GPIB automated tester.

Pass Fail Testing Multi-function Dielectric Capability AC & DC dielectric strength, insulation resistance and earth continuity can all be tested automatically in any sequence without stopping or changing test set-ups.

Built-in user memory allows for storage of up to 100 test routines. Recall and edit capability make it easy to run or change a stored program.

Uniform Production Line Testing IEEE-488, RS232 and printer output is available to optain direct hard-copy test results on a parallel printer using the 5880A's remote interface option.

Safety Sensing lines for correct connection disables High Voltage if output is disconnected.

Safety Indicators have both high voltage and audible indicators when high voltage is present.

Automatic Calibration provides for fast and safe calibration

40 Character Display Ultra bright, easy to read vacuum florescent display shows test voltage and leakage current levels, and automatic set-up menus with both digital and bar graph indicators.

Visual and Audible Alarms Brilliant L.E.D.'s illuminate bolt whenever the output exceeds 100V. User configurable beeper provides a loud warning prior to and during high voltage testing.

VALHALLA 5880A - Displays and Features

This insulation resistance and earth continuity all in one GPIB automated tester is setting new standards in Dielectric Analyzer performance, safety, and value.


display-1 This 40 character screen displays AC or DC current levels digitally, along with a bar graph indicating the levels relative to their programmed limits. A bright lightning bolt and audible alarm will indicate when high voltage is enabled.


display-2 Menus are easy to follow allowing automatic and manual operation. With Valhalla's 5880A, automatic tests are easy and accurate to set up. Self prompting menus lead you to the next step, where you select desired values.


display-3 The ramp current can also be selected. Choosing a higher value for the ramp than for the test can allow the voltage to reach test levels quickly, greatly speeding up the test.


display-4 Accurately programming the duration of the test increases repeatability and consistency of the test results, while eliminating costly manual operation.


display-5 The low resistance mode checks the ground path using 50mA to ensure a safer test. Both high and low limits can be selected in the automatic mode, 30 amp ground testing option available.


display-6 The user can select the exact AC or DC voltage required for testing, up to 5000V standard and up to 7000 VDC optional.


display-7 User can select the precise high and low current limits for the test. AC current measures real apparent and total current.


display-8 Automatic test mode provides high throughput, while guaranteeing that each test was performed correctly. Optional automatic print output capability documents each individual test with pass/fail status and actual values.

Test Report
The Valhalla 5880A can do automatic tests, and print the test results and test parameters. The information can include time, date, device serial numbers, etc., and it can be printed automatically at the end of each test.

The Valhalla 5880A does the work of four test instruments - automatically from one test connection. User selectable test sequence, voltage ramps, leakage currents, and resistance limits put you in control of all test parameters.
